Medusa shrugged.  ”If you wish to remain on their leash, go ahead, but they are not going to let you do what you want to do.”

She looked back at him, smirking.  ”They aren’t here, they won’t know if you experiment some, try out your own power.  If nothing else, you could prove them wrong, and gain valuable knowledge.”  Or he could prove them right and destroy the fools.  It was a pity she wouldn’t be able to watch that, assuming they would eventually be returned to their own worlds.

She would have to keep an eye on him in the city, though.  It would be highly amusing to see what came of his break down.

If he wished to remain on their leash? That phrase alone made Anakin’s frown darken. He wasn’t on anyone’s leash… the Jedi Council ultimately could not control him, when it came down to things! At least, that was what he’d have liked to think, but seeing how the Council had dealt with Ahsoka being framed, unjustly deciding her fate before the court case had even begun…

simply the thought of it was enough to make his blood boil. Who knew what they would do next?

“Actually, another Jedi has been taken by the scientists… but he is trustworthy.”

He steeled himself, recalling his training. “…As tempting as experimenting seems, I’m afraid I must remain loyal to the code.” After all, although he liked where Medusa had been going, Anakin firmly reminded himself that she was still only a witch.. twisting words seemed to be their strong point. He couldn’t let himself trust her too easily.

“Thank you, though, for your advice. I will take it under consideration.”

Medusa nodded.  ”Very well, it was merely a suggestion.”  She smiled at him, an outwardly friendly gesture.  ”If you do decide to slip your collar for a bit, let me know how it goes.  I am curious about this Force of yours.”

Medusa watched as the woman looked her over, straightening only when the other addressed her.

“Greetings,” she replied.  ”I am Medusa.”  She paused, then added in a similar manner: “Witch.”  It was almost amusing, this bounty hunter’s implied insistence that she was still armed.  Medusa knew from experience that, even should she still possess a weapon, it would be a poor excuse for one.

Unless she had other abilities the scientists had let her keep, but a well placed vector arrow should deal easily with whatever this other woman could send her way.

Medusa smirked.  ”You can relax, Sarah Fortune, I don’t intend to kill you.”  Yet.  Bounty hunters tended to be highly interesting, if relatively unpredictable (unless money was involved).  That, of course, simply made them more entertaining.  Still, if it came down to it, she was fairly sure Sarah could put up a decent fight before dying, an amusing prospect in itself.

“Though I don’t know why a bounty hunter would be running away from those fools,” she added.

Witch? That part was interesting. Maybe she was a bit like the mages back home. In any case, she was worth keeping an eye on.

“Phew” Miss Fortune let out an over-exaggerated sigh. She rubbed the back of her hand across her forehead, wiping away fake sweat. “After all, how could a little ol’ thing like me take down a witch?” she pouted her lip before changing her demeanor. She rolled her eyes and stood up straight. “If you saw what I saw, you’d need to pitch up a meal or two as well” she said. “I’ve seen pirates that are cleaner than that man’s balls” Fortune sighed. “Though, I guess a big strong witch uses those kinds of things for potions or sacrifices or whatever” she said. She really wasn’t sure why a woman who was seemingly unarmed would be doing wandering a city at night. She did say she was a witch…but still, one should be careful in dark, puddle-filled cesspools…They’re often filled with snakes and spiders.

Medusa shrugged.  ”Filthy, perhaps, but he was nothing more than a common little insect, easy enough to squash.”  She smirked.  ”I don’t think I’ve ever sacrificed someone’s balls, though.”

This woman’s sarcasm was irritating, however.  It seemed even the shock of such a sight wore off quickly.  ”You may want to be careful in this part of the city.  You never know who might be lurking, and considering the fact that your guns have been taken from you…”

She let the sentence hang, waiting to see Sarah’s reaction.  It was rather foolish of the woman to wander into this area of the city in any case, though perhaps she had some other method to protect herself.  She sure hadn’t done a good job so far.

Thus far, Medusa was not impressed with this so-called bounty hunter.

I apologize for the slow replies, everyone.  Last week was midterms and I had an organic chemistry exam yesterday.  I should be able to get to replies soon.

Here are the ones I owe:

This was the information she needed.

The prophecy seemed foolish, though.  How could eliminating the agents of change in the universe be a good thing?  Balance, perhaps, but stagnation as well.  Idiots.

“How long will it take before you prove yourself worthy?” she asked.  ”Why would they want to give up their own positions, especially to someone who already makes their own powers look weak?”

She turned her head away from him slightly so he didn’t see her smirk.  ”Do you really think they’ll give you that rank so easily?  More likely they will continue to avoid the matter until you are conveniently killed in these battles you fight.”

Anakin hesitated, cerulean eyes falling as he fully registered the blonde’s words. Surely the Jedi would not kill the Chosen One… yet he had gradually been believing that many of the Jedi had become more problematic than helpful, getting in the way of peace. Besides… how could he forgive them after the way they had dealt with his former padawan?

“But I have to trust them…”

image

Could he even do so anymore? After all that had happened during the past few months..? He let out a long sigh. Well, it wasn’t as though any of the other Jedi, except for Obi-Wan, had gone to Hive City with him—and Anakin could trust his former master. At least Anakin would thus receive some well-deserved space, free of the others’ poor judgment.

”..What do you think I should do, then?”

That didn’t necessarily mean he would actually follow her suggestions, but he couldn’t help but be curious to know what she thought. Witch or not, it seemed Medusa saw more truth about the Jedi Council than most others managed to.

Medusa shrugged.  ”If you wish to remain on their leash, go ahead, but they are not going to let you do what you want to do.”

His eyes gave away a lot.  It wasn’t just that this Council didn’t trust, they didn’t trust him, and evidently he held quite a lot of bitterness toward them for this.  Which was just as well.

“They have threatened you with this humiliation?” she asked, frowning slightly, projecting an outward appearance of concern, “just for expressing your feelings?  Is there a reason they fear you so?”

She almost had him.

Fear him? Force, she knew what she was talking about… and Anakin welcomed the chance to explain. “I am the most powerful of them all. A prophecy was foreseen, saying that I am the one who will destroy the Sith and thus bring balance to the galaxy… yet they fear I will do the opposite.” It was strange, voicing this. He’d thought it all along, but speaking his thoughts only made it seem all the more final.

“I have already broken the Jedi Code.. but I don’t think they have yet discovered so. They only suspect me because they fear my power.” He frowned slightly, releasing a faint sigh. It was strange, how trustworthy she seemed. Anakin silently reminded himself to keep his own personal information more to himself, in the future.

“But surely if I prove myself, they will allow me to join the rank of Master.”

This was the information she needed.

Medusa smiled.  She was getting to him, that much was obvious, and she had been right about his emotions.  He didn’t agree with his own council, and that was definitely a problem.  Or it would be, if she actually wanted to help him remain calm and serene.

“So is it emotions they are afraid of,” she asked, “or change?”  She looked up at him, watching him thoughtfully.  His stance showed his displeasure at the Council’s stance, but his eyes hinted at something else… fear perhaps?  That was something she could use.

“Are those Jedi who use their emotions immediately regarded as evil beings?” she asked.

Come just a little closer, Jedi.  Just a little bit more and I will have you within my coils.

Ah, when she put it that way, it really did seem awful—- Anakin found himself struggling about keeping up with his calm facade; “They don’t trust easily,” he, of all people, would understand that best.

They didn’t trust him.

“If a Jedi breaks the code, they’ll immediately be cast out.. humiliated.” Not only by the Order, of course, but also by HoloNet features, a program that would be sure to make it all a public scandal.. and the entire galaxy watched it. It didn’t really help that he was known as a galactic hero, either, so Anakin always had to be sure he put on a good show.

But that didn’t change the fact that the other Jedi were always watching him, leaning towards giving him ridiculously simple missions—- assignments that sent him to the Outer Rim, keeping him there for months on end… he hated them for it. But he kept the bitter emotions down, anyway.

It wasn’t as though he had much of a choice.

“But yes, such.. betrayal is considered evil, by them.”

His eyes gave away a lot.  It wasn’t just that this Council didn’t trust, they didn’t trust him, and evidently he held quite a lot of bitterness toward them for this.  Which was just as well.

Meme Sunday!

  • Ask the character/mun: Ask the muse whatever you want for them to answer IC; or ask the mun a personal question to get to know better or to get an OOC answer [although we would like to keep these at a minimum]!
  • Truth/Dare: Be reasonable with the dares! If you start getting ridiculous no one will want to do them; characters aren’t really obligated to do all the dares they receive. Don’t forget about the truth part as well!
  • Headcanon: Anons send the character a word, or a name and you may write a small/long headcanon about said word!
  • Drabbles: Give the muse a prompt and they may write a short drabble on it.

The hindrance of feelings (drabble)

Medusa scowled at the passing pedestrians, she herself leaning against a building, completely still and mostly hidden by the shadows.  As entertaining as the people in this city were, she found herself irritated at the lack of depth to them.

With the sudden influx of people, there should be someone whom Medusa recognized.  Unless, of course, they simply brought one person from each world.  That would be almost disappointing, however, though she didn’t have any evidence to show otherwise.  Still, it was worth keeping in mind.  It wouldn’t do to have one of those fools from Shibusen running around and disrupting her experiments.

And so she had taken to walking the streets, keeping her eyes sharp both for anyone interesting or someone from back home.  Either prospect could prove entertaining.

Her eyes narrowed slightly at the sight of a pink-haired child standing in front of a building some way in front of her.  Was it possible…

As she continued approaching the building she saw the child dart behind a waste bin.  She frowned.  That infuriating child was just as useless here as back home.  Never mind.  Now that she had found zir, she could continue at least some part of her experiment.  And also ensure that her previous work was not ruined.

Supposing the foolish scientists hadn’t completely negated the black blood, that is.

She approached the bin and stood watching Crona for a moment.

“Hiding is foolish, Crona,” she finally said.  ”It shows weakness, and we don’t want that, do we?”

So far, so good. Cowering behind the garbage can, Crona waited with baited breath, hoping that Mister Bin would at least be able to successfully hide zir. So far… so go—

— that voice.

The youth completely froze up, heart skipping a beat as ze slowly tilted up zir head in order to be sure that… that voice hadn’t been imagined. It had to have been false, made up, there was no way that Lady Medusa could be here, too, there was… no way…

image

“L… L… L-Lady… L… Lady M… Medusa!”

The words had to be forced out as Crona got to zir feet, holding weakly onto the trash bin as if zir already frail legs would give out beneath zir at any minute. Trembling… trembling…

… any thought that Medusa could have had her abilities ruined or weakened, too, was not passing through Crona’s mind. Ze was too completely petrified that Medusa was right here in front of zir to think properly.

“N… n… no, of— of course— I— I didn’t… we…”

A twisted grin was forced onto the youth’s lips, gaze averted to stare unseeingly at the ground.

“… i-it’s… g… good to… to see you.”

Liar.

Medusa watched, one eyebrow raised cynically, as Crona slowly came out from behind the bin.  This was pathetic.  Ze had been making some progress, not enough, but it had still been progress, and now it was all undone by those foolish meddling scientists.

Although… could the scientists access different time periods within the same world?  That could offer some explanation.  It would be an irritation to have to work back through progress already made, especially since the black blood was most likely majorly suppressed.

“Enough,” she said, cutting through the youth’s stuttered greeting.  ”What do you remember from right before you were brought here?” she asked, “and what powers did the scientists leave you?”

She needed to have more information before proceeding, though she was not happy with what she was already presented with.
